Who we are

Your local partner for Gatic in the Asian region

Elkington China Ltd (龍亨中國有限公司) is a Hong Kong-based fully owned subsidiary of The Alumasc Group, UK (plc), and distributor for Gatic engineered access covers and drainage for airports, ports, sewage and highways projects across China, Hong Kong, Macau and parts of Asia.

Gatic is part of Alumasc Water Management Solutions (AWMS), a division of The Alumasc Group with an installation history dating back to 1928. Its covers have protected underground services everywhere from a 1928 Shell garage in Malta — where the original cover is still in service — to Heathrow Terminal 5 and container terminals worldwide.

From specification advice to delivery and after-sales support, our team helps contractors, consultants and utilities select and source the right cover for the duty, every time.

Single recessed access cover with paviour infill

Single covers & frames

Self-contained covers for manholes, valve chambers, hydrant pits and machinery access — recessed for infill or solid top.

Overhead view of a multi-part duct cover array in concrete

Duct covers & frames

Modular covers for pipe and cable service trenches and cable draw pits, in load ratings to suit any traffic condition.

Continuous trench cover run crossing a concrete apron

Continuous trench covers

Long runs of linked covers over service trenches, with machined seating faces that stay non-rocking under heavy traffic when correctly installed.

Multispan cover system with removable structural beams and assist-lift panels

Multispan covers & frames

Large-area covers with removable structural steel beams for wide chambers — the format behind the biggest airport apron installations.

Cast iron grating installed in a kerbside channel

Gratings & frames

Ductile-iron gratings for gully tops and channel drainage, from kerbside C250 duty up to heavy industrial applications.

Loading groups

Specified to BS EN 124

Every Gatic cover is classified by test load. Selecting the right class matches the cover to its duty — without over-specifying.

Class Test load Typical applications
B125125 kNFootways, pedestrian areas, car parks, driveways, internal floors
C250250 kNGully tops in kerbside channels, pedestrian precincts, yards
D400400 kNCarriageways of roads, hard shoulders, parking areas for all vehicle types, power stations
E600600 kNDockyards and areas with slow-moving wheel loads up to 20 tonnes
F900900 kNAirfield pavements, taxiways, civil airports, dockyards — wheel loads up to 35 tonnes

Test loads per BS EN 124: gully tops and manhole tops for vehicular and pedestrian areas. Compliance with the standard does not replace correct installation. Where duty is in doubt, the stronger class should be selected.

Where they work

Built for the harshest environments

More traffic, heavier loads, bigger aircraft and container volumes — the conditions that destroy ordinary covers are exactly what Gatic covers are machined for.

Airports

Aprons, taxiways and stands

F900-rated covers and multispan systems keep fuel, hydrant, lighting and cable pits accessible on aprons and taxiways — under slow-moving aircraft wheel loads up to 35 tonnes.

Ports & docks

Container terminals and quaysides

Heavy-duty covers and gratings handle straddle carriers, terminal tractors and reach stackers — the punishing slow-moving wheel loads of modern container ports.
